Developing National Knowledge Economy Skills - A Blended Training Initiative
KESP – the Knowledge Economy Skills Passport - is an Irish government-sponsored blended training initiative that is developing key knowledge economy competencies in the Irish workforce. Originally conceived by a consortium of eLearning companies and a higher education institution, Channel Content was contracted to:
- Formally define the project
- Facilitate fund raising
- Plan and programme manage it
Our original project design and plan specified how blending the use of technology assisted learning and face-to-face instruction with the use of social media could be used to deliver effective Knoweldge Economy skills training. As a result the Irish government awarded €2m+ (£1.5m) in funding to the project and made it part of the national development plan.
Channel Content has:
- Developed the programme’s curriculum
- Programme managed content development, QA and delivery for the project
- Coordinated and worked closely with the consortium development teams
KESP blends rich media elearning tutorials and assessments with streamed web-based media, mobile media downloads and live tutor support online and in-classroom. The programme has successfully launched and piloted with a range of employers and hundreds of learners.
